DEBORAH TANNENBAUM

Deborah joins Cannae Policy Group as a seasoned fundraising and political professional with extensive experience in strategic development for both non-profit organizations and political campaigns, issue advocacy, issue research and identification and advising candidates on nearly all aspects of political campaigns.

Prior to joining Cannae in May of 2014, Deborah founded Tannenbaum Solutions, a boutique consulting firm specializing in strategic marketing, fundraising, and new business development for progressive issue-specific campaigns, ballot initiatives, non-profit organizations, and Democratic candidates.

Prior to 2013, the majority of Deborah’s career was spent on the campaign trail between Washington, DC and her home state of Florida.  At the national level, Deborah successfully lead numerous multi-million dollar fundraising issue campaigns. She served as the National Finance Director for Protect Your Care/Know Your Care campaigns, which promoted, defended, and educated the public on the benefits of the Affordable Care Act. Deborah also served as the Senior National Finance Consultant for the Washington United for Marriage campaign to legalize marriage for same-sex couples in Washington state. She also served as the Senior Advisor to the Scouts for Equality campaign and as a Presidential Inaugural Committee Fellow in the Office of Public Engagement.

Deborah began her political career during her junior year of college while attending The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Having started as an intern for Senate Minority Leader (now Mayor) Buddy Dyer in 1998, Deborah spent the several years rising though the political ranks and held numerous senior level positions on state-wide candidate campaigns, presidential campaigns, and non-partisan ballot initiatives.  She served as the Finance Director for two non-partisan ballot initiatives in her home state: Fair Districts Florida and SayNo2/Florida Red and Blue campaigns.  In addition, was the South Florida Finance Director for the Florida Democratic Party, Senior Regional Finance Director for Jim Davis' gubernatorial campaign, Regional Field Director for the 2004 Democratic Coordinated Campaign, and Field Director for six different counties in the 2000 Democratic Coordinated Campaign for presidential candidate Al Gore. Through her hard work and dedication to candidates and issue campaigns, Deborah has earned a reputation of being one of the top fundraisers in Florida.

Deborah is a native of Lake City, Florida.  She credits her passion for public service and civic engagement to her parents, who in their younger years were very involved in the civil rights movement.

Deborah is a VERY proud Seminole and graduate of The Florida State University, which is where she was first bitten by the political bug. She later received a Master of Arts from George Washington University.
