Bob Bissen, brings to Cannae Policy Group a strong background in government relations, public affairs and campaign politics. He assists clients in developing and implementing effective strategic campaigns that include lobbying, relationship building, communications, grassroots development, coalition building, and event planning and management.
Prior to joining Cannae, he served as a Senior Director at APCO Worldwide, a Washington, DC-based global public affairs and strategic communications firm, for over twenty years. While at APCO, he managed successful campaigns to secure legislative language, executive rulemaking language, congressional appropriations, and millions of media impressions.
Bob previously served in the administration of President George H.W. Bush as Special Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental and Public Liaison at the U.S. Department of Energy. He has also served as chief of staff for the Independent-Republican Caucus of the Minnesota State Senate; director of voter programs and special projects for the National Republican Senatorial Committee; on the successful re-election campaigns of former U.S. Senators Bob Kasten (R-Wis.) and Rudy Boschwitz (R-Minn.) and former U.S. Representative Bill Frenzel (R-Minn.); and as a legislative assistant in the office of Sen. Kasten.
Bob served as an instructor for the International Republican Institute in Mongolia in preparation for the country’s first freely contested presidential election, and has been a guest lecturer and instructor for numerous campaign management schools and education programs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from St. Cloud State University.
